A total of 25 copper alloy Roman hobnails and tacks. The nails are of varying sizes, with broadly circular sectioned shanks and pointed domed heads. The largest weighs 1.26 grams and measures 15.6 mm in length, 9.9 mm in width and 7.1 mm in thickness. There are three smaller ones which are incomplete. The smallest weighing 0.15 grams. Of the smallest complete nail, it measures 9.4 mm in length, 8.8 mm in width, 5.5 mm in thickness. It weighs 0.56 grams. A probable Roman iron hob nail dating to c.AD 43 - 410. The nail has a domed head with a central ridge projecting along its length. The nail has a broadly square shank which tapers to a blunted terminal.The object has a well-developed dark brown patina. The nails compare to other examples on the database including WAW-A15B19 discovered in Warwickshire. Here the record states that "Hob nails were used in Roman footwear (caligulae). An incomplete wrought iron double pronged artefact, consisting of the tip of a flesh hook, of probable Roman dating (43 AD - 410 AD). It is irregular in both plan and cross section. It consists of a slender iron rod, expanding at the base into a triangular shape, into two points extending out at right angles from the rod. It is uncertain whether the two points originally joined together to form a ring or whether they continued out straight to form hooks or not. Iron P-shaped brooch. The wings of the brooch are created by a cast copper alloy cylinder which terminates with a bulbous iron knop. The terminal of the wings show there is an iron spindle within the wings. The wings do have traces of iron on their surface as if they were originally encased in iron, but this is not certain. The spring is iron and is wounded around the wings, forming five coils with the external coils forming a bar underneath the bow. The bracelet is made of thre three strands of iron. The three strands are twisted together, then forming a 'C' shape in plan. The terminals taper to a point, whether this is purposeful or not, is unsure. It is difficult to decide whether this band is a small bracelet, or more modern wire. But Johns does mention iron bracelets made in this way, and it was found on an Roman site which may suggest it possible being Roman.
