Probable Mesolithic to early Bronze Age (8000 - 1000BC) retouched flake: The flint flake is knapped from a mottled brown flint. The ventral surface has a bulb of percussion and slight conchoidal ripples. The dorsal surface has a three negative scars. A lateral edge has two small curved notches which have been formed by abrupt re-touch. The flake measures 25.53mm long, 21.65mm wide, 6.14mm thick and weighs 2.94g. Retouched flakes are difficult to date as they are present throughout prehistory. Thus, a wide date range for this piece is suggested.
