A fragment comprising the mouthpiece and part of the body of a post medieval silver whistle. The whistle is made from silver sheet and has been stamped with bands of decoration. The decoration comprises: a band of annulets and quatrefoils and a lattice containing crowns and scallops. On the mouthpiece is an indistinct maker's mark R[.].

The weight is stamped with the following:
Crowned I - for James II
Sword - for City of London
A - for Averdupois
Ewer - for the Plumbers' Company
There is also a small unclear stamp on the rim.
The disposition of the stamps shows that the weight dates from the reign of James II and not James I.

A lead alloy flat discoidal weight of 434.41g (15.32oz) or approximately 1 pound in the averdepois system. The upper surface is stamped with the sword mark of London, a crowned A royal cypher of Queen Anne (1702-1714) and a figure of a standing angel with scales which represents the Plumber's company, who had the right to check and stamp lead weights in the City of London from 1588 onwards.
