A complete silver finger ring or mount of later post-medieval date (c. 18th century). The ring is now oval in plan and has a D-shaped cross section. The ring is decorated with raised saltires around the entirity of the outer hoop. The inner hoop is plain and undecorated. The finger ring has been made from a strip of silver which has been cut and then soldered together to obtain the correct size; the soldering has damaged the decoration on the outer hoop and could be considered untidy for a finger ring of this date in silver, which indicates that it may not have functioned as a finger …

An incomplete copper alloy signet finger ring, of Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval dating (c. AD 1450 to c. AD 1650). Approximately 50% of the finger ring is present, consisting of the bezel, shoulders and part of the hoop. The rest of the hoop is missing, presumed lost in antiquity. The bezel is sub rectangular in plan. The device is uncertain, but probably depicts the letter W, with two diagonal wedges above, within an oval cartouche. The shoulders are straight and taper straight into the hoop. The hoop is oval in section. The reverse of the finger ring is plain and undeco…

A Post-Medieval gold posy ring, inscribed with In thee I find content of mind on the inside of the hoop, followed by a maker's mark, possibly RC. The finger-ring measures 20.77mm in diameter (internal diameter 17.47mm) and weighs 5.51g. In cross-section, the hoop is basically D-shaped but with each internal edge bevelled. The outside of the hoop is convex. The maker's mark is not identifiable and therefore there is not enough evidence to say that this finger-ring is over 300 years old. Thus it falls outside of the remit of the Treasure Act.

A gold and enamelled posy ring. The ring is in the form of a simple band, engraved in one place with a heart which perhaps forms the bezel. To each side of the heart is a pair of birds made from engraved lines inlaid with in white enamel; the birds face the heart. Behind each bird is what appears to be a patch of grass, several oblique engraved lines inlaid with green enamel. Opposite the heart is an area of interlace picked out in white enamel. It may be that the heart was picked out in red enamel but this no longer survives; elsewhere the survival of the enamel is patchy. Within …
