An incomplete copper alloy double loop annular buckle, of Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval dating (c.AD 1350 to AD 1650). The buckle consists of the frame with an complete integral bar. An incomplete, worn and corroded copper alloy Medieval (1350-1450) composite buckle, missing its pin. It measures 51.21mm in length and 28.68mm in max.width (at the frame). It weighs 18.48g. The object comprises an oval frame with ornate outside edge - a flattish 'roller' projection with a knop to either end - and an intergral forked spacer plate. A Post Medieval incomplete copper alloy buckle with attached plate dating 1550-1650. Only one loop remains of this double-looped buckle, the other loop is broken and only two small projections indicate its original presence. An Early Medieval (Anglo-Scandinavian) copper alloy buckle (late 10th – early 11th century). The buckle is in two pieces with the bar and pin missing. The open-work ‘hollow’ buckle is slightly domed with a concave reverse and moulded high relief decoration. At the centre of the buckle frame is a bearded face with lentoid eyes. A groove for the pin rest falls in the middle of the beard. On either side of the head is a bird in profile with an upturned head and forked tail.
