A Roman silver coin; a denarius of Vespasian dating from AD 77 - 79 (Reece period 4), Sow and piglets reverse type, depicting a sow, walking left, with three piglets below, all above an exergue containing the inscription  IMP XI[X] or IMP XI[II]. Mint of Rome. RIC II Part 1, number 982, 984 or 986. Compare http://numismatics.org/ocre/id/ric.2_1(2).ves.982. The coin is 17.1mm in diameter and 1.9mm thick. It weighs 2.24g. The obverse is damaged and is almost completely illegible.

A Roman silver coin; a denarius probably of Vespasian (AD 69 - 79) dating from AD 71-73 (Reece period 4). AVGVR TRI POT reverse depicting priestly implements, minted in Rome. Compare for example, FASAM-5B929C which cites RIC II (2nd ed), p. 62, nos. 42-3 though this coin cannot be positively identified to a single RIC number. The coin is 16.1mm diameter, 2.2mm thick and 1.68g. There is a chip missing from the edge and the obverse legend is illegible.

Reverse legend TR POT VIII COS VII, the reverse depicting Venus standing, facing right, leaning on a column and holding helmet and transverse spear. Rome mint. The coin is struck on an oval flan that is 18mm long, 15.8mm wide and 2mm thick. It weighs 2.59gm. References: RIC Volume II, number 205 and Sear, volume 1, number 2448.
