The frame is circular, with a circular cross section.  It does not appear to be decorated.  The pin appears to be copper alloy but there is a lot of corrosion material adhering with a high iron content. An incomplete copper alloy enamelled plate brooch dating to the Roman period (c. AD 150-375). The remains of the brooch consist of a flat-sectioned round plate with a reserve border and two concentric circular reserves within creating two recesses filled with the remains of yellow and red enamel. In the centre of the plate is a circular recess, now empty. Over half of the edge has broken away. On the reverse are the complete single pierced lug and the remains of the catchplate opposite. An incomplete copper alloy probable trumpet brooch dating to the Roman period (c. AD 75-175). The remains of the object consist of the partial bow, foot and fragmented catchplate. The bow is decorated with a series of transverse ribs of varying size at the point where the bow arches. The bow then tapers to the rounded foot, which has a collar immediately above. On the reverse of the bow the remains of the catchplate are apparent. The object has a mid to light green patina. The overall dimensions are as follows: 36.04mm in length, 7.99mm in width, 8.8mm in thickness and 3.88g in weight.
