A copper alloy pattern of Charles I, dating to the period AD 1625-1649. The 'coin' is a pattern for a farthing, depicting a crowned rose with the initials C R either side and the slogan 'PRAY FOR THE KING / LORD GIVE THY BLESING'. This appears to be a very rare and unusual object, with the only references coming from books of the 19th century; The Copper, Tin and Bronze Coinage and Patterns for Coins of England (2nd edition), by H Montagu,1893, who states that 'it is possible that this piece also is a jetton struck on or after the execution of the king'. Reference to another pie…

A lead alloy/ pewter token issued during the reign of Elizabeth I (1558-1603). It measures 20.38mm in diameter and weighs 3.4g.
North notes these tokens were political medalets or counters as some appear to relate to Mary Queen on Scots and the workmanship on most is rather crude. They were struck about 1574 and are often found in London (North 1975, Vol. II, p.116).
