'The coins were found, 1823, at Pengwern Farm, adjoining Leithryd in the parish of Ilston, amongst the loose stones and rubbish of a limestone quarry close to a kiln. They were dispersed through a space scarcely exceeding 18 or 20 inches square and in general lay within 12 inches of the surface, over most part of which a slight turf has formed since the removal of the rubbish.
