Post medieval copper alloy decorative knife fitting (end stop) probably of late 16th or 17th century date
The fitting is complete (with a length of 10.6mm, a thickness of 6.1mm and a weight of 4.6g). The underside has a V-shaped groove to accommodate the top of the knife tang (2.8mm deep). The fitting is of bifid form, with a curving arm projecting from each side (giving a width of 19.1mm) and thinning to the terminals. The terminals are enhanced with grooves. Early post-medievall tin alloy (pewter) spoon, probably of 16th century date. The spoon is incomplete, missing part of the bowl and has a slightly distorted stem (with a length of 155.4mm and a weight of 33.9g). The terminal knop is of flattened spherical form with a protruding nipple. The knop is decorated with a whirligig device in cast relief. The rear of the knop may also have been decorated with a similar motif but is now worn. There is a rib moulding at the top of the stem, before the knop.
