An incomplete cast copper alloy, single loop buckle cast with an integral plate, dating from the medieval period c. AD 1250 - 1400. Only the plate remains as the frame of the buckle is lost due to old damage. In form the buckle is very small and would originally have had an oval frame. The plate is broadly rectangular in plan and D shaped in cross ection. It is decorated with a series of three bosses seperated by double transverse ribs. Incomplete decorated shoe buckle made from pinchbeck. The buckle is sub rectangular in shape, and is curved in order to fit a shoe. The central pin of the buckle is missing. The reverse of the buckle is smooth with no decoration. The buckle is highly decorated with lozenge shapes, curves and groups of 4 pellets. Overall the buckle is in good condition. Date is thought to be 18th or 19th century. The buckle weighs 14.3g and is 50mm in length by 39mm in width.

Post medieval copper alloy buckle of mid-16th to mid-17th century date The cast buckle frame is of rectangular form (33.7mm long, 46.1mm wide and weighing 18.7g) and is complete except for the pin. The integral outside edge resembles a roller and is decorated with diagonal notches either side of a central notch for the pin. The underside of the outside edge is bevelled. The sides have two rounded lobes, with a larger lobe near the bar (9mm deep and 5.4mm thick). The bar is offset and narrowed. The surface is unpatinated, tarnished 'bronze'.

Gilded buckle comprising of a trapezoidal frame with folded sheet plate of Medieval date, possibly 14th century. The outside edge of the frame is ‘V’ shaped and extends slightly beyond the frame sides and is also more substantial than the rest of the frame. There is a low notch for the now missing pin, which was of iron. The folded sheet plate is rectangular with a rounded inside edge of the plate. The plate has a slot for the pin and is recessed for the frame. The single attachment rivet is still present near the inside edge of the plate. Gilding survives on both the frame and plate.
