An almost complete Middle Bronze Age palstave axe of the Group 3 type dating to c. 1400 – 1150 BC. The blade is broadly triangular in shape with slightly convex sides and a wide cutting edge. The cutting edge measures 43.5mm in width and is 1.6mm thick at the edge. The cutting edge is blunt. The septum (the area between the flange facets and the stop ridge) gradually tapers towards the butt and is a broad U shape and measures 59.1mm in length. The fragment has a worn break on each end and has a bright green patina.
