On the outer face the basal end is moulded and expands. There are three broad ribs that run longitudinally. The opposing internal face is flat and then at the lower edge that allows th epot to sit it expands slightly to form a protruding lip. The fragment …

A Medieval or Post Medieval (12th to mid 19th century) cooking vessel leg: The foot is a 'hoof' type. In plan it is a sub-rectangle, with an obliquely angled break across the foot. This break is not recent as the patina matches the surface of the leg. The upper edge is broken and again it is not a recent break. In profile the reverse of the leg is straight and in section it is sub semi-circular. The lower portion of the front face is rounded, decorated with two, slightly radiating, wide vertical ribs on the remaining half of the foot. Above there is a transverse collar in the form of …

The upper face is decorated with a recessed rectilinear panel that contains a series of raised diagonal lentoid ribs, bordered by smaller lentoid ribs. These ribs are irregularly spaced and shaped. At the tip of the handle also on the upper face there are five linear, parallel grooves. The underside of the handle has a smooth surface. The hand…

The exterior surface is also encrusted and is slightly abraded. The surface otherwise has a dark grey, slightly shiny patina. The fragment measures 41.28mm wide across the rim and 19.33mm long from…

A copper alloy, which appears to be heavily leaded, cooking vessel leg/foot: In plan it is a sub- rectangle with a narrow upper edge flaring outwards. The face of the upper edge is obliquely angled and whose edges are broken. This face is sub-triangular in plan and forms the interior surface of the vessel. The broken edges are not recent breaks. The lower edge of the foot is also broken and heavily abraded. The leg is circular in section. The surface is slightly abraded and has a mottled matte mid green/grey coloured patina. The leg measures 78.21mm tall, 28.89mm wide and 20.88mm thic…

The obliquely angled face has been decorated with a vertical, central ridge. The base of the foot is sub-rectangular. The surface is heavily abraded, pitted, and has traces of a mottled matte mid green coloured patina. It also has patches of a heavy black deposit which is probably a sooty/carbon deposit. A cast copper alloy cooking vessel fragment (length: 73.5mm; width: 31mm; thickness: 3.5mm; weight: 38.98g). At one end of the fragment, the vessel seems to curve outwards, possibly towards a rim? The artefact is in a fair condition with general corrosion on both sides. On the probable inner side of the vessel, the surface has a dark green patina, while the outer surface has a dark green-back patina. It is impossible to date this fragment specifically, but it is most likely to date to the Medieval or post-Medieval period.

Elongated sub-rectangular shape which tapers towards the base when stood vertical. The section of the leg is slightly trapezoidal. The upper end face of the leg is square and is slightly wider than the rest of the leg. The edges of this upper end face are broken. The patina over these edges suggests that the item was broken in antiquity. The face itself is very smooth and is angled c. 45º to the leg. The outer vertical face of the leg is slightly curved towards the base. The foot, which is a horizontal edge is slightly worn.
