A lead alloy steelyard weight which may be from the Roman period. The weight is sub-spherical, with a flattened base and a slightly pointed top. An iron loop projects from the top. It is 50mm long, and 47.4mm in diameter. The surface of the weight is pitted. It is mid-grey in colour, with patches of white corrosion, but the appearance has been altered by cleaning and varnishing. The weight has a mass of 531g which is roughly equivalent to one and a half Roman pounds.

A lead alloy spindle whorl. The whorl is conical with a truncated top. There is a large circular hole through the centre. It has a diameter of 24.7mm and is 11.6mm thick. It weighs 27.5g. A flat and rectangular piece of lead which may be a weight. The object is 29.1mm long, 22.3mm wide and 3.7mm thick. It has a thick white patina which is chipped at the edges and it does not seem to be decorated or marked at all. It weighs 22.6g. Lead weighs are notoriously difficult to date and are very imperfectly understood currently.

A lead alloy seal from a bag, bale or other package of cargo, which is post medieval in date. It is 18.5mm long, 17.9mm wide and 4.6mm thick. The seal is sub-circular and is formed from two discs of metal pressed together at the edges over a string or fastening which is now missing. There is faint lettering on both faces of the seal, but it is illegible. The seal has been cleaned and polished.

A copper alloy socketed axehead which dates from the Bronze Age. The axehead is 91.6mm long and the socket is 42mm wide and 39mm thick externally. Both ends of the axehead are extensively chipped and damaged, and there are also chips on the body of the axehead. A flint tool, a knife, probably dating from the late Neolithic. The knife is 48.3mm long, 15.1mm wide and 4.6mm thick. It is formed on a tertiary flake which is rounded at both ends. Both edges are retouched, but they are also extensively damaged. It is similar to a plano-convex knife on page 171 of “Prehistoric Flintwork” by Chris Butler (2005), but is less invasively worked. The flint is an opaque and patinated brownish grey colour.

A copper alloy finger ring which is probably Roman. The ring has a diameter of 19.7mm and is 8.1mm across at the bezel. It has a rectangular flat bezel and angled shoulders but then the back of the ring is curved and D shaped in section. There is an incised pattern on the band next to the shoulders at both sides. This consists of three incised lines in a fan shape like a simple fleur-de-lis. There does not seem to be any decoration on the bezel or shoulders. A copper alloy cast spherical bell fragment. The fragment is 39.mm long, 43.2mm wide and 2.98mm thick. It has a thickened median rib. A circular sound hole is visible in the upper half which appears not to be decorated. Another sound hole can be seen in the lower half which is decorated with radial arches executed in double incised lines. In the central circle at the base, part of a maker’s or owner’s initial can be seen; probably a W and a small O. The bell has a mottled dark brown and green patina. It is post medieval and probably dates from the sixteenth century.

A copper alloy mount, probably from harness, which consists of twelve radiating spikes which are alternately long and short. The mount has a diameter of 56.4mm and is 7.1mm thick. The fronts of the spikes are moulded into a rounded shape, but the reverse is flat and an integral rivet projects from the back of each long spike. The design is similar to rowel spurs of the fifteenth century, and this mount is likely to date from a similar time.

The top face of the oval terminals are decorated with incised radial lines. A hole has been punched through one terminal, but too close to the edge so the hole has ripped the metal. A copper alloy medieval harness pendant with is damaged and incomplete. The pendant would have been circular or oval when complete, but now it is broken and about a third is missing. There is an integral suspension loop which is at right angles to the pendant. The pendant is 42.1mm long, 20mm wide and 5.9mm thick. No visible decoration survives except two tiny specks of gilding. The pendant has a light green patina. It probably dates from the 12th or 13th century (Griffiths, 1986).
