Late medieval or early post medieval earthenware vessel rim sherd, late Medieval/early Post Medieval Midlands Purple upright jar rim sherd, simple flattened slightly everted and lid-seated rim, four grooves around the outer surface starting 35mm from top of vessel. Purple-brown fabric (more purple on the inside), one splash of ?clear glaze on outer surface. Pimply appearance to surfaces; inclusion include common white, shiny black, sparse quartz and rare non-crystalline grey. Diameter of rim c.250mm, weight 55.66g.

Earthen ware pottery vessel body sherd, probably early medieval, middle Saxon period, c.AD700-900. Reduced fired fabric, dark grey surfaces, mig-grey core; uneven thickness so probably hand-made rather than wheelthrown; numerous quartz sand inclusions, and common large (up to 2.5mm) iron rich reddish inclusions. Weight 22.72g. Probably from globular cooking pot/storage vessel. This was seen by Howard Jones of Trent and Peak Archaeological Unit who said it was very similar to some middle Saxon pot from Brough, given the fabric name FE by Alan Vince.

Outwardly inclined walls, slight ridge internally at the junction of the base and the wall (and not externally), rouletted circle around the slightly convex base, stamp SACRI[NN?].M at the apex of the base.
