Copper alloy possible coin fragment. Part of a die-stamped disc with opposed curving edges and opposed straight cut or broken edges, the latter both with a curved feature at one end of the cut or broken sides, now with a wavy profile. The form and size might suggest a Georgian halfpenny though no clear detail is now discernible on either side. The mutilation of coins of George III (1760-1820) is occasionally reported from the area (e.g. NLM-68E3E7), and Republican sentiment perhaps informed that example.
