Copper alloy possible finger ring. Cast D-section band, slightly narrowed at one point which, if indeed a finger ring, would be opposite the bezel. The latter, and the rest of the band, is plain. Abraded. The wearing of finger rings was a men’s custom for the Romans, and this band would have to be for a youth or gracile individual if indeed worn on the finger. A central projecting boss is surrounded by four symmetrically disposed oval cells which may retain enamel – if so of a probably blue tint - and are confined by a border. The boss is surrounded by a deep gutter. Outside this, a further border confines a series of eleven semi-circular cells, each apparently retaining a triangular plate of dull possibly blue enamel – it does not ‘flow’ to fill the available cells…

The mid to lower bow bears about eight rectangular cells apt to receive enamel, though no trace of colorant appears. The bow tapers gently to a drum-shaped pedestal foot with an annulus in its base.
