A Middle Iron Age cast copper alloy bow brooch belonging to Hawkes and Hull's Type 1a (5th to early 4th millennium BC). The bow is rounded and thickened and hollow on its lower side. The spring and pin are missing. There are traces of iron deposits and copper alloy corrosion spotting. The bow of the brooch is decorated with a cast multi-stranded double scrolling design. A corroded copper alloy object, possibly a bladed prehistoric or Roman era implement such as a razor or perhaps an incomplete brooch of late Iron Age date. The object is 35.4mm in length with a triangular plate, with flat triangular cross section and a hooked projection on the wide end, probably the remains of a corroded suspension loop. There are no other fittings. The surface appears to have faint ring and dot decoration in two uneven rows along both sides.

A probable cast copper alloy tankard handle fragment of late Iron Age date. The oval slightly curving fragment measures 36.1mm by 30.2mm by 8.1mm and weighs 25.3g. It appears to be the central section from a tankard handle which was originally broadly similar to example h on plate 230 of Jope's 'Early Celtic Art in the British Isles'. This example, which is from Stoke Abbott, Dorset, has two trumpet-like terminals for attachment to a wooden vessel, each with an adjacent openwork loop which in turn adjoined an oval central section. Early Roman brooch of Colchester derivative (double Lug) type in copper-alloy. This form dates to between c.AD 40 and 65. The present example is complete, and in good condition, with an even deep green patina, and the pin is intact. The object measures 32mm long, with wings 17mm wide, and a maximum thickness of 12mm; it weighs 6.5g. The brooch is T-shaped in plan and D-shaped in section. The short, semi-cylindrical wings are undecorated, but the length of the bow is decorated with linear reeding, and it gradually tapers to form a point at the base. On the reverse of the brooch…
