A fragment of a copper-alloy Late Roman bracelet (cf. Crummy 1983: 40, no. 1651).
The artefact is formed of a thin, narrow strip which is parallel-sided along much of its length, the sides converging towards the terminal, where there is an outward curving hook attachment. There is no trace of decoration on the slightly convex outer surface. The bracelet is bent at one point. It measures 28.1mm wide, 39.1mm deep (from hooked terminal to back of hoop) and 3.4mm high (height of band). The weight is 2.09g.

An incomplete copper-alloy finger ring, dating from the Late Roman period (cf. Henig in Woodward and Leach 1993: fig. 172, nos. 5, 6 and 9).
The bezel consists of an empty oval cell, the sides of which decrease in height at the ends. A groove separates the bezel from the one complete, albeit broken, shoulder, the sides of which converge towards the much narrower hoop. The fragment measures 21.4mm long, 10.3mm wide and weighs 2.03g.

An incomplete, possibly cast copper alloy and enameled Trumpet-headed brooch with a disc on its bow, dating to the Roman period (approx. 2nd century AD). The remains of the trumpet brooch consist of a curved, trumpet-shaped head with a large central disc with one protruding lug, a fragment of a vertical catchment plate, and a triangular-shaped brooch end, which is broken off. A nearly complete copper alloy cast nail cleaner with moulded neck and shouldered blade dating to the Roman period (mid-late 1st - 2nd century AD). This nail cleaner consists of a suspension loop facing the same plane as the blade, a highly decorated neck, and leaf-shaped, tapering bifurcated blade. Incomplete cast copper alloy plate brooch dating to the Roman period. The object is an oval, flat plate, divided into two zones by a reserved flat metal ridge that is concentric to the similar oval outer rim. The brooch is decorated within the outer zone with a bright blue enamel and the centre, although now empty, could have held further decorative elements such as a paste intaglio or more enamel. A complete iron knife of Manning Type 1a, dating to the Roman period. This knife consists of a round suspension loop, a rectangular iron handle, and a parallel, straight-edged rectangular knife blade. This is in keeping with Type 1a, in that it "has an integral iron handle, usually rectangular in cross-section, which may occasionally be inlaid with another material, with a suspension loop at the end" (Manning 1989, 108). There are no similar PAS examples currently. See Manning 1989, Fig. 28, No. 1a. Specific dating uncertain.

This is an incomplete cast copper alloy and enamel seal box lid, dating to the Roman period. The rectangular front of the box remains, along with two different types of connection elements, including a circular hole, which would have held a hinge rod, and a protruding hinge element. The presence of both elements together seems to be unique and may indicate reuse (see Notes below). Circumstances of Find Found by Messrs D. Philips and B. Plason with the aid of a metal detector about 70cm below the field surface, 1.12.06. The initial discovery of the coins was made in and around the remains of their plough damaged pottery container. A small excavation was then made by the Herts. and Beds. FLO, Julian Watters.
