A shell-tempered rim fragment from a storage jar of Iron Age to Early Roman date.  The fragment is broadly rectangular in shape and tear-drop in profile with a rounded everted rim. Abundant angular calcareous inclusions <7mm amongst grey reduced fabric on exterior and break, and oxidised light brown on interior surface and part of exterior. The fragment measures 90.4mm long, 57.5mm wide, 23.9mm thick and weighs 130.16 grams.

A fragment of a medieval -Post medieval cast copper alloy vessel leg dating to c. AD 1300-1700. The leg is shaped like a boot, with a rounded toe. It leans back slightly, and has a flat back or inside leg. There is a groove running around where the foot meets the leg. The foot is slightly wider than the leg. The leg is triangular in cross section, with rounded corners. The leg ends at the top in a worn break. It has a mid green patina, and measures 43.8mm in height, 23.1mm in maximum width, 13.6mm in maximum thickness, and weighs 49g.

The glass is blue and contains numerous bubbles, it is of uneven thickness, thickening at the dome's apex, perhaps suggesting it is part of the base of a vessel.

A cast copper alloy fragment of a chafing dish dating to the later Medieval period. The object consists of an integral support which projects upwards and a small fragment of the rim. The dish support is sub-rectangular in plan and trapezoidal in cross-section. On the lower face of the rim fragment is a circumferential groove. File marks are visible on each face of the object. Lewis (1973, p63-4) describes the type of vessel which he calls type B: "These vessels are cast in one piece and finished on the lathe. A pottery strap handle from a medieval jug. The handle adjoins part of the vertical neck of the vessel, a short distance down from the beaded rim. Two vertical ridges decorate upper surface of the handle. Each of the two outer panels created by these ridges is decorated by a column of sub-oval stab marks, whereas the central panel has a column of diagonal impressions, probably made by the tip of a knife. The piece, which represents foot of a cauldron or similar vessel, has a triangular cross section and splays towards the base , which is concave.The break at the top is irregular.Traces of a black sustance adhere to the corroded surfaces. Dimensions: height: 28.4mm; maximum width: 46.2mm. Weight: 101.36g. Butler, Green and Payne suggest that this form of foot was common on medieval vessels, although examples are known from as late as the 17th century (2009: 4).

Part of a cast copper-alloy handle fragment from a cauldron of Medieval or Post-Medieval date. The handle is C-shaped with a sharp but rounded bend at the centre. The handle is circular at one end becoming wider and oval in section at the centre and continuing that section to the other end. Both ends have concave faces and appear complete with the faces being the inner side of the vessel with no more of the vessel wall attached. Similar C-shaped handles are illustrated by Butler et al. (2009, 5; fig. 3 b) who suggest (ibid:1) vessels of this type were in use c.AD 1100-1750.

Part of a cast copper alloy leg from a Medieval to Post Medieval vessel. The leg is flat in cross section with convex rounded edges and a flat front and back. The leg terminates in a rounded but plain end with no clear 'foot', at the top is an old break. There are traces of sooting on the front. This is possibly an example of Butler, Green and Payne (2009, pg 4) Type 'a', lacking the foot. This type was widespread in the Medieval period with examples known into the early 17th century.

A rim sherd from a Roman flanged bowl. This vessel probably dates from the 3rd or 4th century AD and is of Hadham colour-coated ware, its form imitating the Dr 38 form of samian bowl. The flange curves downwards from the outer wall of the vessel, with part of the damaged rim projecting above. The core is light grey; the surface is mid-orange and has displays abundant mica inclusions. The inner surface of the bowl and upper surface of the flange retain traces of an orange slip, whereas the outer surface of the vessel has been coated with a brown slip. A rim sherd from a Roman dish of South Midlands shell-tempered ware. This pottery was probably produced at Harrold, Bedfordshire and dates from the 3rd to early 5th century AD. The rim itself has a flattened upper surface and has an angled outer face, at the base of which is a shallow groove. The wall of the vessel would have angled upwards at approximately 60 degrees from the now-missing base. A fragment of sheet copper alloy binding from a wooden vessel of probable Roman date. The fragment measures 46.8mm by 25mm by 1.1mm and weighs 2.8g. It is decorated with repoussé motifs consisting of a single line of dots along the top and bottom and running transverse zigzags in between. The upper edge has been folder backwards and several of the adjacents dots are perforated. A broadly similar fragment has been found in a Roman context at Woodeaton, Oxfordshire (Bagnall Smith 1998, p. 179, no. 17.4, fig. 11).

A probable cast copper alloy tankard handle fragment of late Iron Age date. The oval slightly curving fragment measures 36.1mm by 30.2mm by 8.1mm and weighs 25.3g. It appears to be the central section from a tankard handle which was originally broadly similar to example h on plate 230 of Jope's 'Early Celtic Art in the British Isles'. sherd from a medieval vessel. The sherd appears to be part of the base and wall of a large saggy bottomed jug. At the angle between the base and wall is a thumb or finger indentation, and this would probably have extended around the base of the vessel for decoration. The fabric has large inclusions of calcite grit and was possibly organically tempered also. The fabric is of a grey colour in profile and an orange/grey colour on the exterior.

Two sherds of Roman samian ware. One is a rim sherd, probably from a form 30 or form 37 bowl (de la Bedoyere, 1989, page 84; figure 51; Webster 1996, 42 fig. 27, 47 fig. 32). The original rim diameter was 240mm. This sherd is pierced with a circular hole (4.5 mm in diameter) 4 mm below the rim. Chafing around the edge indicates that this hole was bored some time after completion of the pot. It is likely that the hole represents the repair of the pot at some point during its life. R Hobbs reports: There are also a large number of fragments of other similar coarseware vessels in a range of fabrics, as well as tile, brick and fragments of mortaria. Only the pieces stained with copper can be directly associated with the coin hoard and considered as treasure.

Report by R Hobbs: Around 15 fragments of a squat coarseware storage jar with green copper alloy staining on the inner surface where the pot has been in direct contact with the coins. The fabric (pink grog tempered ware) is dull pink with a heavy grey core and ill sorted inclusions of grog and mica (Tomber and Dore 1998, 210).
