A sherd of a ceramic Vessel of Post-Medieval date (AD 1650-1800). The object is a rim sherd. The fabric is dark red in colour and hard and gritty in with infrequent calcite inclusions. The outer surfaces are grey in colour. The lip is everted. Height: 40.45mm, Width: 63.26mm, Thickness: 1.37mm, Weight: 38.3g

A sherd of a ceramic Vessel of Post-Medieval date (AD 1650-1800). Slip glazed ware. The object is a body sherd. The fabric is cream in colour and is soapy in texture, with no visible inclusions. One surface retains orange slip over which is yellow glaze with brown glaze feathered within to create an intricate chevron motif. Height: 42.27mm, Width: 35.88mm, Thickness: 6.33mm, Weight: 10.3g

A post-Medieval stoneware Bellarmine jug (also known as a Beardman/Bartmaan jug). The body of the vessel is sub-globular, with a flat base and conical neck (damaged). A speckled brown glaze covers most of the surface of the vessel, running into the lower quarter, which is off-white. The typical moulded human mask is situated at the junction of neck and body; it has a ladder-like mouth, 'flower pad' moustache and corded beard. A cast copper-alloy cauldron leg of probable early post-medieval date. The object is sub-rectangular in section and widens in thickness towards the bottom. It depicts an animal claw and has five faint vertical divisions at the bottom, which represent the toes. It measures 47.2mm high by 40.6mm wide and up to 18.4mm thick.

The trapzoidal drop handle and the moulded knob that fitted it onto the metal bowl or chaffing dish. The shaped, lower half of the handle is damaged. The loop of the handle is cast with a rectangular section and finished with a file, which has left striations on the surface. It is possible that these handles come from drawers or chests (see Margeson 1993 p78)
