An incomplete copper alloy probable Roman spoon, dating to the first half of the 2nd century AD. Only the spoon bowl remains, this is pear shaped, with a rectangular attachment stem projecting out from one of the narrow ends. The circular attachment hole sits at 90 degrees to the body of the bowl. Where the stem attaches there is a slight raised ridge running down the bowl of the spoon. The bowl is very worn, and has been distorted out of shape. The bowl measures 54.1mm in length, 29.3mm in width, and weighs 11.34g. Similar spoons can be seen in Crummy, 1983, page 70, specifical…

An incomplete copper alloy spoon of Roman date (AD 43-410). The object is a mandolin-shaped spoon of Crummy 1983, Type 3. The handle is missing. The spoon would have originally consisted of two pieces. The bowl is circular in shape, narrowing into a neck, then widening again to facilitate the attachment of a handle (now missing). A post medieval silver spoon with a balloon shaped bowl that has worn slightly dented and has a hole in the deepest part. The 104.21mm long handle is undecorated and sub rectangular in section [thickness: 6.85mm]. There is a crowned leopards head in the bowl just below the handle indicating it was made in London between 1300 and the present day. A Roman copper-alloy spoon with silver-grey coloured surface. The round bowl, with neat lip-moulding, is dented; the thin, circular-sectioned handle is broken close to the bowl. Date: 1st - 2nd century AD. Dimensions: Bowl diameter 23.4 mm. Weight: 3.2 g. Non-destructive surface metal analysis conducted at the British Museum indicated that the surface is tinned. No precious metal was detected.

A fragment of a Roman silver spoon, Only the circular bowl and the offset survive; the handle is missing in its entirety. The bowl is largely intact, with some damage to the outer edge, where the metal isvery thin and warped; it has a solid sub rectangular offset with a short projection towards the bowl.
