The shaft circular in section with a swelling in the centre, which then tapers down toward the pointed tip. The shaft is recurved into a U-shape. An incomplete early Medieval copper-alloy pin with a flattened polyhedral head (measuring 11.1mm by 5.3mm across) with ring and dot decoration and a small collar. The wide faces have four ring-and-dots, the flat side facets each have a single ring-and-dot and the flat top facet has an incised saltire. Between the top, sides and collar and four undecorated bevelled facets. The shaft is 23.8mm in length, with circular cross section and ends at an old break.

An complete copper alloy Roman hair pin of group 6 type, dating from the late 1st to early 2nd century AD. The hair pin has a discoidal head, which narrows to the shank.There is raised collar below the head, with a groove either side. The shank is circular in cross section with a bend in it at about forty five degrees, narrowing slightly towards the terminal rounded point. The pin has a dark green patina.
