A complete gilded copper alloy Buckle of Medieval date (AD 1250-1400). The object is a single loop buckle with a decorative integral plate. The frame is oval with a notched lip and a perforation within which is a wire pin. The plate is wasted with a pointed end and two rivet holes. There is a transverse ridge between the rivet holes. The plate is decorated along the upper and lower ends with oblique lines and punched dots on the transverse ridge. A large amount of gilding has been retained on both sides of the object. The frame has narrowed sides and retains a wire pin and two circular perforations, through one of which, the wire pin is attached. An incomplete and worn copper alloy buckle of Medieval date (AD 1250-1400). The buckle has a single loop oval frame with a narrowed and offset strap bar. Two prominent, collared knops flank three grooves on the outer edge of the loop. There are knops at either side of the pin bar. Similar examples are illustrated in Whitehead, p.22 no.97 and are dated to circa AD1250-1400.

A medieval copper-alloy single-loop buckle with integral plate. Together, the frame and plate are pear-shaped, the latter terminating in a wider, round, lobe. An integral rivet of circular cross section extends backwards from the underside of this lobe. A copper-alloy frame from a Medieval single-loop buckle, with part of the strap fitting sitll present. The frame is D-shaped, with flat surfaces and angled inner and outer edges. The strap fitting consists of a folded sheet with a cut out for the pin and one of two rivets. The pin is missing. Research carried out into similar buckles from Meols, Cheshire, suggests that the majority of buckles of this form date from the 13th and 14th centuries (Griffiths et al. 2007: 86).

The sides stepping inwards at 90 degrees at the point of the axis bar. The frame is of triangular section and expands in width and thickness towards the centre. The axis bar is of round sectioned and is offset. The pin is missing. Some of the original surface survives as a yellowish patina in places. .
