Base silver radiate of Valerian I (AD 253-60), ORIENS AVGG, Sol advancing left raising hand and holding whip. Mint of Gaul. Cunetio p. 105, no. 708. The coin looks quite base, but as it was struck from base silver the copper content has patinated.

Roman silver Denarius of Galba. Coins of Galba are rare as he only ruled briefly during AD 68 and they rarely make it as far as Britain. Furthermore, this example has the obverse inscription SER GALBA IMPERATOR (rather than IMP) which is not recorded for this type in the British Museum Catalouge or Roman Imperial Coinage.
