A Medieval to post-Medieval iron rotary key, dating to c. AD 1300-1750. The bow is D shaped, with the shoulders rounded. The shank of the key projects into the bow with two triangular projections and a notch in the centre. This is full of iron staining. Below the shoulders is a widened cylindrical collar, the shank is narrower and circular in cross section.  The bit is in two sections, which are the shape of two back-to-back, 'S-shaped' sides, separated from each other by an 'I-shaped' cleft.The key is a brown red colour, and is fragile from corrosion. …

An incomplete, early medieval, iron, shield boss AD.500-650. The object comprises the upper portion of the boss dome, with incomplete discoidal projection. The boss is a waisted cone with the wider 'base' edge terminating in a ragged corroded edge, at the top of the cone point is the remains of a small disc. The edges of the dome have coroded and the overall state of the object is poor. Only approximately 25% of the original boss survives with the dome walls and flange lost to corrosion. An iron end plate / head component, 36.9mm in diameter, from a barrel padlock of Medieval to post Medieval date. The plate is 6.2mm thick and there are three projecting barb spring lock elements in the centre, set in a triangular arrangement. The cylindrical outer casing, locking arm and most of the locking mechanism are missing.

An incomplete iron padlock of late Medieval to post-Medieval date. The padlock has a spherical body of 51.2mm diameter, with a circular shackle arm. The arm is 50.4mm across and 11mm wide with a square cross-section. One side of the body is lost, revealing the tip of the shackle which remains attached to a portion of the locking mechanism. The lost side of the body would have had the keyhole.

A complete iron post medieval double loop buckle dating to c. AD 1650-1700. The buckle is 'thistle-shaped' with one oval loop and one trapezoidal loop. The frame is rectangular in cross section. The pin is triangular shaped, looped around the pin bar and narrowing towards a rounded point. Either side of the pin is a rectangular plate holding it in place. The buckle has a red brown patina, and measures 45.6mm in length, 43.9mm in width, 8.1mm in thickness and weighs 19.72g. C.f. Margeson 1993, page 33, number 218.

A complete Roman iron axe head, dating from c. 1st to 2nd century AD. The head is triangular in shape, with the lower edge of the blade curving downwards creating a wide cutting edge. There is a rectangular perforation at the wider end of the head where the handle would have attached. An incomplete iron knife blade of Post Medieval date (AD 1500-1600). The object has a tapering sub-rectangular blade and a whittle tang. The blade is sub-rectangular in section with a slight curve due to post-depositional processes. The tip of the blade and part of the tang are missing and the tip curves down slightly. The tip of the arrowhead has a diamond shaped cross section. There is a slight waist where the tip meets the socket, however, the maximum width of the tip does not exceed that of the socket. An incomplete, wrought iron, Roman, probable, anvil, AD.43-450. The object comprises a cuboid block of iron, the top surface appears slightly domed from repeated striking. The sides appear to be fairly parallel, though there is a slight taper from the top to the bottom.. The object has a fairly even dark black patina with patches of orange oxidation. Iron spearhead, in quite firm condition but with part of the socket including the proximal end missing. The slightly bent leaf-shaped blade is narrow and elongated. Both its faces are flat, i.e. without a midrib. The socket is not split. Extant length 148mm. Width 17mm. The slenderness and the small size suggest the object is not a theatrical object, but that it may be "ethnographic", from somewhere outside Europe. The date is uncertain.

An incomplete wrought iron object, of probable Late Post Medieval to Modern dating (1700 - 1900 AD), of uncertain use and function. The object consists of a rectangular sectioned tang, with an incomplete sheet of iron (now triangular in shape) riveted to the end with two circular rivets. It measures 108.08mm in length. 36.82mm wide and 9.20mm thick. It weighs 33.2 grams.

A complete iron knife of Manning Type 1a, dating to the Roman period. This knife consists of a round suspension loop, a rectangular iron handle, and a parallel, straight-edged rectangular knife blade. This is in keeping with Type 1a, in that it "has an integral iron handle, usually rectangular in cross-section, which may occasionally be inlaid with another material, with a suspension loop at the end" (Manning 1989, 108). There are no similar PAS examples currently. See Manning 1989, Fig. 28, No. 1a. Specific dating uncertain.

A roughly C-shape iron object that may have been joined originally into a circle. This consists of two strands of 3mm thick wire that open to make four almost elliptical holes. The finder feels that this object could be a finger ring but although iron finger rings are known from Roman sites these are very different from this example. Despite extensive research it has not been possible to discover what this object is.

A fragment of an iron padlock slide key with a sub-circular bit. The bit has three rectangular holes. The hole nearest the end measures 11 x 7 mm and the two above measure 8 x 7mm each. A fragment of the shank remains (in the same plane as the bit) and is circular in section with a moulded ridge between the bit and the shank. There may be a metallic surface coating on this key. This corresponds to Goodall's type C padlock key (in Biddle 1990, 1022-1024), which date to the late 11th to end 13th century at Winchester.

Part of an iron lever with a forked end (broken). The lever has a slightly curved handle with a knobbed end. Near the forked end of the handle are two semi-circular plates with a circular rivet through them for attachment to another object. The lever appears to have pivoted on this attachment.
