A complete Roman iron axe head, dating from c. 1st to 2nd century AD. The head is triangular in shape, with the lower edge of the blade curving downwards creating a wide cutting edge. There is a rectangular perforation at the wider end of the head where the handle would have attached. The axe is a dark red brown colour, and measures 132.6mm in length, 51.7mm in width and weighs 320g. Manning 1985 plate 7; B2

Lower die.The head is very slightly domed and rectangular in cross-section, about 30mm by 33mm. There is very little overhand at the head: the metal has been forged to a round cross-section, leaving a slight concavity on the sides. Little sign of use. Cowell and Lang in Zeepvat 1992. 47mm long, 18mm diameter across die face.

An incomplete, wrought iron, Roman, probable, anvil, AD.43-450. The object comprises a cuboid block of iron, the top surface appears slightly domed from repeated striking. The sides appear to be fairly parallel, though there is a slight taper from the top to the bottom.. The object has a fairly even dark black patina with patches of orange oxidation. The sides of the anvil are pitted, probably from corrosion after deposition. Incompete Roman copper-alloy trumpet brooch. Part of the spring survives behind the head, but the pin and foot are missing. The bow of the brooch has decorative mouldings but these are obscured by iron corrosion. There are two C-shaped panels of blue enamel on the head and only small flecks of red on the upper bow.

A complete iron knife of Manning Type 1a, dating to the Roman period. This knife consists of a round suspension loop, a rectangular iron handle, and a parallel, straight-edged rectangular knife blade. This is in keeping with Type 1a, in that it "has an integral iron handle, usually rectangular in cross-section, which may occasionally be inlaid with another material, with a suspension loop at the end" (Manning 1989, 108). There are no similar PAS examples currently. See Manning 1989, Fig. 28, No. 1a. Specific dating uncertain.

An iron spearhead, possibly a pilum. This object has a 70mm long, pyramidal head, which broadens to 13mm across at the widest point. This narrows into an 8mm thick square sectioned shaft. This example is similar in shape and size to 1st century AD plium heads found at Hod Hill, Dorset (Manning 1985)
