An incomplete cast copper-alloy Post Medieval crotal bell dating from the 16th to 17th century. The bell comprises a hollow sphere of two hemispheres divided by a raised circumferential band. The upper hemisphere has three circular sound holes; one small and two larger (approximately 4.5mmdiameter), one of which has been damaged creating a larger irregular perforation. A moulded flower head design occupies the central area; this is surrounded by a plain rim, which, in turn, is surrounded by a pelleted perimeter border. Two late medieval to early post-medieval copper-alloy thimbles, arranged one inside the other. The slightly damaged outer thimble tapers towards its convex top. The outer surface is covered by closely-spaced rows of circular indentations; on the top, these rows become concentric circles. At the base, there is a plain rim with single groove at the top. A post-Medieval stoneware Bellarmine jug (also known as a Beardman/Bartmaan jug). The body of the vessel is sub-globular, with a flat base and conical neck (damaged). A speckled brown glaze covers most of the surface of the vessel, running into the lower quarter, which is off-white. The typical moulded human mask is situated at the junction of neck and body; it has a ladder-like mouth, 'flower pad' moustache and corded beard. At the centre of the plate is a six-petalled flower head, and this is surrounded by a field containing three parallel bands of moulded pellets. A lead two-disc cloth seal of post-Medieval date. The seal comprises two sub-circular discs and a folded connecting strip. One discs bears an ornate relief-stamped shield containing a sword with a cross at the point and four flanking stars. A copper-alloy double-loop trapezoidal buckle, dating from the post-Medieval period. The buckle is symmetrical, the two trapezoidal sides converging towards the centre. Both sides angle upwards from the central axis bar, which has a protruding knop at each end. The upper surfaces of the frame slope downwards and outwards; the underside is flat. The surfaces of the buckle have been tinned or silvered. Dimensions: 25.7mm long, 19.5mm wide, 1.7mm thick. Weight: 3.28g. Ross Whitehead (1996: 82) suggests a late 16th to late 17th/early 18th century date for buckles of this form.
