A near complete cast copper-alloy mount of Roman date (c.43-410). Description: The object is in the form of a small bird with moulded wings, tail, feet and head. The eyes of the bird are deep recessed holes and would have been inlaid. The wings and tails have incised lines to depict feathers, as do the feet to represent its claws. The feet have a horizontal circular gap so that they curl around a separate copper-alloy wire, to appear as though it is sitting on a branch. This is broken underneath one of the feet. An incomplete copper alloy terminal from a rowel spur arm, of Post Medieval dating (16th to 17th CenturiesAD). The fragment consists of a heart shaped terminal, with two circular perforations (holes). The spur arm has a D shaped cross section, with a flat reverse. Beneath the heart shaped terminal is a moulded rectangular collar, with a straight horizontal groove across it as decoration. An incomplete copper-alloy (bronze) cast horse harness fitting or strap distributor, dating from the late Iron age to the early Roman period ( c.50BC-AD50). The object comprises three connected openwork trefoil rings (of which two survives intact) and a probable central motif of a horses head projecting 90 degrees from the centre of the object. The complete rings have an internal diameter of 9.7 mm and 8.8 mm. The surviving fragment is a strip from the edge of what was probably a larger rectangular plaque decorated on both sides. One side contains lines of incised black-letter text, though only the first letter of each line survives. An incomplete Roman enamelled, copper alloy, umbonate brooch. The brooch dates to c. AD100-AD 250. The brooch is circular, domed, and has a flat, incomplete, perimeter ledge. The domed surface is decorated with twelve triangular cells, alternating with red and blue enamel. The short side of each cell is crescent shaped, curving into the interior of the cell. A Neolithic polished stone axehead (c.4000-2351BC). The axe is probably a Group VI axe from Langdale, Cumbria. The axe is sub-rectangular in plan and measures 94.95mm in length. It tapers from 46.71mm at the blade end to 23.02mm at the butt, and is 21.3mm in thickness. The axe weighs 130.78g. The blade and butt ends are rounded both in plan and in section, the blade end having lost its sharpness in antiquity.
