Stone ring found in the River Ribble by a metal detector user, but as an 'eyes only' find. The finder describes the river as being particularly low at the time of his discovery due to hot weather.The tint and location could both suggest the object to be of Limestone. He kindly supplies oblique and direct images [used to compile the accompanying composite view] and the following notes on dimensions: 'It weighs 65 grams and has a circumference of 73mm. The outer wall measures 21mm at its widest by 12mm at its thickest point'.

Possibly a fragment of a copper alloy sheet medieval buckle plate. The incomplete sub- rectangular plate has two rivet holes and terminates at one end with a small integral hook. The length is 42.5mm, the surviving width is 15.0mm and the weight is 3.23g.
This object was hitherto inadvertently described as a key (locking); a point kindly corrected by Tom Redmayne.

A Mesolithic to Neolithic flint scraper. The mid grey opaque flint has spots of white in the fabric. The dorsal face has a patch of cortex in the centre and has steep haphazard retouch all the way around. The ventral face is plain with some damage at the proximal end. An incomplete cast copper alloy Romano-British one-piece Colchester type brooch. Behind the flat rectangular wings is a copper alloy spring with four surviving coils. The other half of the coils and the pin are missing. On top of the head is a forward facing hook to secure the spring. The plain bow is hexagonal in section and tapers to a plain pointed foot. The long catchplate is incomplete at the bottom and has two surviving rectangular perforations. The surviving length of the catchplate is 17.8mm and the width is 13.6mm. A Mesolithic to Neolithic Retouched Flake. The opaque flint is a multi-coloured of brown and cream and has a strip of think cortex on one side. The chunky flake is plain on the dorsal face but the ventral face has ripple marks and short parallel retouch on one edge.
