An medieval wrought iron arrowhead dating from c. the 11th-15th century. It has a rounded socket instead of a tang and the blade is a long triangular shape. The blade seems to be flat though the corrosion could be obscuring details. The arrowhead has barbs which appear to be straight not curved, but one is missing and the other is broken so the shape is not certain. There is some damage to one side of the blade and to the socket, which is c. 9mm thick in diameter. The iron is corroded but seems to be stable. Arrowheads are notoriously difficult to date. Possible corrective shoe often called a bar shoe or a shoe for an ox. The bar shoe was used to correct the horses gait as this can be significantly affected by the shape, weight, and thickness of the horseshoe. Farriers trained in hot shoeing made custom shoes to help horses with bone or musculature problems in their legs. Cast blade of an iron axe, the socket end is missing from an old break and the blade is highly corroded. It is rectangular in cross section and triangular in plan. It is quite a small axe and very thick, 22.34mm. Axes do not change a great deal between the Roman and Modern periods and features that can suggest more precise dating, such as the socket shape and the way the blade joins the socket, are missing in this example.

Iron/cu-alloy bridle boss. The boss is circular with a domed area in the centre. It is made from iron but had a cu-alloy coating. The disc is decorated with concentric grooves and attached to the leather strap with three small iron rivets (still in place). The bridle boss is very corroded and suffers from bronze disease.
