Post-medieval elongated silver thimble dating to the 17th century AD. The thimble is complete constructed from a sheet of silver soldered along the edges with the side seam clearly visible attached to a separate domed top soldered to the almost straight sides. A plain band runs around the top of the body of the thimble separating the dome. Ten evenly spaced circular motifs are stamped immediately above this upper band. I have examined a group of 11 coins and fragments of coins the coins are listed in detail in the accompanying catalogue. All the coins are silver and all but two fragments are official coins of the medieval kings of England, and will thus be of the traditional sterling standard, i.e. 92.5 fine metal. The remaining two fragments appear to come from one coin, a sterling imitation of English pennies issued by the French lord Gaucher de Chatillon. These will have a silver fineness of c. 80%. Probably a cast copper strap mount also called a 'pressure tectonic' dating from the late Iron Age or early Roman period, that is c. 100BC-AD200. A complete cast copper alloy terret of simple type dating from the Late Iron Age to early Roman period, ca. 100BC to AD 100. The terret ring is sub oval (D shaped) in plan with an irregular sub-oval (D shaped) cross section. The attachment bar is oval in cross section and flanked by two circular mouldings. A complete cast copper-alloy dagger quillon of late medieval to early post-medieval date, that is dating from c. AD1400-1600. The quillon is roughly diamond-shaped and has a central oval tang hole and on either side there is a quillon that expands to form a faceted terminal. Rising from the junction between the quillon and the tang hole is an openwork guard which is still complete if slightly bent. It may have been semi-circular, trifurcate or, most likely, heart-shaped.
