A short cast copper-alloy flanged axe with high, triangular-shaped flanges and no stop ridge. The side view shows that the flanges almost form a diamond in plan. The sides are parallel and the blade is moderately splayed. From the image supplied by the finder alone, signs of wear or re-sharpening marks are difficult to distinguish, but the uncurved/unworked flanges may suggest that, in fact, it had not received a haft and was never used. A cast copper alloy short-flanged axehead of Middle Bronze Age date (1600-1250 BC). Unfortunately there is only one view of the axe making the form difficult to be identify specifically to a type or sub-type. A cast copper-alloy flanged axe dating from the Early Bronze Age, c. 1700-1400BC. Probably Arreton metalwork assemblage. It has a patchy green/brown patina that is pitted in places and with some areas of corrosion, but is otherwise complete. The blade is crescentic in form, flaring at each side and triangular in profile. The cutting edge remains relatively sharp and perhaps has signs of resharpening. An Early Bronze Age III - Middle Bronze Age I (1800-1500 BC) flanged axe head or axe shaped ingot, possibly water rolled, and unusual in its crudeness. Its uneven shape makes accurate measurement and labelling of areas difficult, but the thickest section is approximately 14mm at its widest pont, and the blade tip is an uneven 2-4 mm in fluctuation. Early to the Middle Bronze Age cast copper alloy flanged axehead (developed flat axe). For just over two thirds of its length if has roughly parallel straight sides and a width of approximately 25mm. About 30mm from the cutting end, the axe thins and splays into a crescentic edge. The straight median sections have raised 'flanges' (approximately 2mm high) inset from their bevelled edges by approximately 3mm. An incomplete cast copper alloy (bronze) short flanged axe of Middle Bronze Age dating, probably of the Acton Park or Taunton metalwork assemblage and dating from c.1500 to c. 1300BC. The palstave has a slight depression below the stop ridge on each face which may be a worn shield shaped pattern. Copper-alloy flanged axehead dating to the middle Bronze Age (c. 1300 - 1200 BC). The axehead is a Later Short Flanged axehead of Type Lissett. The axehead has a narrow rectangular-sectioned body that widens and flattens at one end into a curved cutting edge. The other end flattens into a blunt edge. A pair of lozenge-shaped flanges are present on either side of the butt end. The object is light brown in colour with a patchy green patina.
