Copper alloy Roman nummus, barbarous radiate 275-285. The coin is not circular now as the edges have broken off. The coin is worn and all of the legend is missing due to the broken edges.

Cast cu-alloy headstud brooch dating to the Early Roman period. The brooch is almost complete and in very good condition with only the spring and pin missing. Bow, headstud, spring case and loop (for suspension of beads, etc?) are still intact. Bow and head are very sturdy, with a rectangular cross-section and limited amount of decoration: there are two thin grooves on the bow and two more around the headstud as well as vertical grooves (possibly a reel motif?) on the sides of the cross bar (see image). Fragment of lead alloy, possibly from a vessel, dating to the Post Medieval period. An irregular shaped fragment which has decoration in relief on the exterior surface. It has a slight curve to it, hence the probability of it being part of a vessel. All the edges are broken The decoration consists of a lion lying down with his head facing forwards. Only his front legs remain, it has broken before the back legs.

This is a net sinker of local sandstone. It was found n the banks of the Lune near Overton and was probably used in seine or whammal net fishing. Net sinkers weighed down the bottom (groundrope) of the net which was buoyed up by floats at the top. Fish were then caught in the net between. A channel has been worn in the stone where the sinker has been tied to the groundrope (this is where the modern rope is attached today). Double-conical lead weight with central vertical perforation, ca. 9mm wide. The weight is decorated in high-relief on both sides: while one surface displays a six pointed star with raised dots between the spikes of the star, the other shows a very crude pattern of alternating lines and dots. This kind of lead weight is a very frequent metal-detecting find, especially on ploughed and pasture land. Perhaps a fragment of a Roman Ligula 1st to 4th century AD. It was used for extracting ointment, balsams, and powders from tubes and boxes. The ligula is not, strictly speaking, a surgical instrument, although it was used by physicians for applying medicament to affected areas on the body. The object is bent over to a point before tapering, flattening and terminating. Possibly used by a surgeon or for mixing paint or cosmetics. Similar to LANCUM-BC7F31. The object could as an alternative be a later Medieval brooch pin. The diameter is 80mm, thickness 4mm and the weight is 8g.

Bowl of clay pipe dating from the 17th century, most of the stem missing. The stem's perforation is off-centre and the small spur does not bear a maker's mark. The only decoration is rouletting around the outer rim of the small bowl. The small size of bowl and spur and the off-centre perforation suggest a date in the early 17th century.

Cast cu-alloy shoe-buckle, probably dating from the 17th/18th century. The buckle frame is roughly square with long separate semi-circular terminals at both loops and rectangular mouldings in the centre of the upper and lower cross bars. While the frame was made from a very tinny cu-alloy (the metal is of light grey colour), the pin was made from wrought iron. A thick layer of iron rust/residue remains around the central spindle where the pin would have been.

A Mesolithic to Neolithic flint scraper. The mid grey opaque flint has spots of white in the fabric. The dorsal face has a patch of cortex in the centre and has steep haphazard retouch all the way around. The ventral face is plain with some damage at the proximal end. The length is 35.4mm, the width is 33.4mm, the thickness is 15.5mm and the weight is 23.86g.

19th century ferry token made from cast cu-alloy, complete except for the small suspension loop at the top which is missing. The finder wrote to Liverpool Record Office and P Keogh got back to him offering the following additional information: "T.B. Maund and Martin Jenkins discuss ferry tickets in appendix 5 of volume 2 “Mersey Ferries”. They state that season tickets were referred to as “contracts” and were used by “middle Class” customers rather than working people. Contracts were available for 3, 6, and 12 months.
