A body sherd of probably medieval pottery from a ceramic vessel. The sherd is 87.18mm long, 57.5mm wide and 9.3mm thick. It is an orange coloured fabric with dull black angular inclusions, especially on the outer surface. There are also smaller white inclusions and some mica or quartz. The fabric is hard, rough and hackly. It is wheel turned. There is no glazing. This sherd is probably from a medieval pot, but only an expert with knowledge of local pottery types could determine the ware and exact date.

A melted and distorted copper alloy Roman brooch; probably a bow and fantail type dating from 50 - 150 AD. The brooch is 30.28mm long, 28.98mm wide and 14.19mm thick. It weighs 9.86g. The foot of the brooch is missing. The bow is bent out of shape and is pitted. Traces of silvering are visible. The top of the bow flares into the head which is thick and wide. A lead alloy (pewter) cup of uncertain function, perhaps from a candle holder with detachable candle sockets dating from the Post Medieval period. The object is a cylindrical cup with a flaring rim, a circumferential prominent rib round the base of the upper sides, and having rounded, convex lower sides. From the base of the holder projects a narrow spout with concave sides, also circular in section. This has a thickened rim and there is no base. A cast lead spindle whorl probably dating from the Early Medieval to Medieval period, about AD 850 - 1100. The whorl is circular and has two flat faces of different sizes with curved sides, a shape which is classified as Walton Rogers form A2, thought to be in use in AD 600 - 1100. It has a circular central aperture of 9.5mm diameter. This size of spindle hole can suggest a Late Saxon date onwards. An incomplete copper alloy, double looped, asymmetrical buckle dating from the Post-Medieval period, about AD 1575 - 1700. The frame has one trapezoidal and one D shaped loop. The underside of the D shaped loop is slightly hollowed out. The frame is decorated with a knop at each end of the bar. An incomplete Roman copper alloy coin; a sestertius of Faustina I (AD 138-161), posthumous issue dating from AD 141-161 under Antoninus Pius (Reece period 7). Rome mint.The reverse shows a draped female figure standing facing left, holding a long torch, nearly vertical in right hand, and probably a palladium in the left hand. Both attributes appear to be full length. The figure is possibly Vesta. The edges of the coin are damaged. Dimensions: 27.7mm diameter, 4.1mm thick and 11.1g. A probable piece of cast copper alloy waste; a casting well of unknown date. The remnant would have been from the funnel shaped neck of a mould. Consequently, the waste itself is funnel shaped, sub-conical, with an oval, uneven top surface, and tapering towards a broken runner or sprue 'foot'. There is a second runner, perhaps leading to the next mould, projecting to the side. The object is 22.7mm long, 9.7mm high, 16.8mm wide and weighs 7g. It has a grey green patina.
