Cast copper alloy spoon of Medieval or Post-Medieval date. The bowl corresponds with fig shaped (Ward Perkins, 1967), the bowl is narrow at the point where it attached to the stem, and expands towards the forward edge which is rounded. There are no maker's marks or stamps on the spoon. The spoon has been tinned or silvered. Only a small amount of the stem remains which is 5.70mm wide.

Part of the bowl and stem of a grey metal spoon. The bowl looks to have been oval and quite deep but there is little remaining. The bowl is 4mm thick. The stem is quite long and narrow but incomplete. It is almost square in cross section but the lower face is about 1mm narrower than the upper face. The spoon is quite corroded and the outer layer looks to be of a different metal to the inside. The spoon is undecorated.

Possibly terminal of crudly made spoon or fork, made from cast lead. It is oar-shaped and while its reverse is plain, its obverse is decorated with a large wheel with petals inside, tho smaller spoked wheels and a banner with crosses in the lowest panel. The reason why it was identified as 'spoon or fork' is the fact that a handle seems to have broken off, a fragment still remaining attached to the top of the lead plaque.

A fragment of A Post-Medieval copper alloy probable spoon fragment dating 1650-1800 AD. Only the terminal remains which is sub-rectangular in shape and parallel sided throughout its length, the terminal is lost to an old break. The spoon is made of copper alloy which was probably been tinned imitating pewter, it could be a latten or apostle spoon. The use of copper alloy for a spoon in an English context would be more likely after 1650, as before this date the manufacture of spoons in copper alloy was effectively opposed by the Goldsmith's craft guild. Similar to NLM-E606FD, SOM-50DA7…

An incomplete cast lead alloy (pewter) possible spoon probably dating to 17th - 19th century ADF. Copper-alloy spoon fragment that consists of the rear portion of the shallow bowl, probably circular but could have been elliptical. Only the base of the stem remains and is hooked. Shares similarities with SOM-F59E70, BERK-C54B8A and GLO-A61CA5. The stem is rather odd as it appears to have a tab or hook suggesting that it is a component element of another object. If it is a rat-tail junction between the handle and bowl these developed after AD 1675 and were superseded around AD 1715 alth…

An incomplete Early Post-Medieval (1650-1750) copper alloy (probably latten) tinned spoon, consisting of most of the bowl and part of the flat handle only. On the surface of the bowl and the handle much of the tinning remains. The bowl is sub- oval with the widest point closer to the 'stem' end than the opposite end. On the inside, just below where the stem extends, is a Maker's or possibly owners mark within an inverted heart, with a legend *I+M*. The length is 92mm, the width is 53mm and the weight 35.58g. Post-medieval cast copper alloy spoon bowl with an oval perforation. The bowl is a pointed oval shape in plan and the stem was attached in a form of 'rat tail'. The perforation (length 7mm, width 5.5mm) appears to be deliberate but the purpose is unknown. Probably dates to between c1650 and c1750 AD. The length is 55mm, width 28mm, and the weight 10.40g. Spoon is similar, but not identical to SWYOR-4A2623, DUR-B9BAC6, SUSS-B3F337, and HAMP-268CF3 on the database.

Cast copper-alloy spoon dating from the post-medieval period, that is c. AD1500-1700. The spoon is almost complete and is very good condition with a smooth, green patina. There are some minor cracks in the bowl and the tip of the spoon bowl is missing. Except for this damage, it is complete. It is composed of a bowl, handle and separately cast terminal. It looks like handle and bowl were cast in one with some of the metal folded over at the back where the bowl meets the handle. It could be decorative, but it looks to be too uneven and assymmetrical to be part of the decoration. Bowl a…

A complete silver trifid spoon with a floral decoration of post-medieval date 1670 - 1700AD. The handle has a flat section and increases in width towards its flat-ended terminal. The bowl is oval and concave and the stem is flat and rectangular in cross section and is crushed and distorted. At the point that the stem meets the bowl a 'rats tail' develops and is a third of the bowl in length. Using 'scratch engraving' a foliate design has been engraved on either side of the rats tail, there is one petal/leaf around the end of the rats tail. The stem widens after the half way point and …
