One half of a cast copper alloy two part mould for producing toy cannons of Post-Medieval date. The mould is D-shaped in cross section with a concave centre where the molten lead alloy or copper alloy would have been poured. It has an oval mid-section in plan which narrows towards each end, flaring out slightly where the mouth of the cannon would be. At the rear of the object is a long projecting 'handle' which is sub-rectangular in plan and tapers in thickness to where it terminates. Lead mould probably Post-Medieval to Early Modern dating 1600 to 1900AD which could have been used by a book-binder, but their dies were usually copper alloy. The length is 30mm and the width is 30mm.
