An incomplete copper alloy mirror case dating from the late 13th and first half of the 14th century. Only one half of the case survives. This is circular in shape with a raised rim around the inner edge. At one end there is a single central lug pierced with a circular hole, which would have formed part of a hinge. At the other end two lugs protrude, one now missing, which together would have formed a catch. The outer face of the body is decorated with lines of triangular dots - two pairs arranged to form a cross and pairs within the outer edge of each quarter of this, curving inward…

Medieval copper alloy mirror case. Both of the case's discs have survived. Both halves are circular in plan with double or single lugs or projections opposite each other. The first disc has single projections, the second has double projections. The remnants of one of the single projections has broken off in one of the double sets. This case is somewhat unusual in not having a single and double on both halves. The outer faces of both discs were originally decorated with four groups of two bands of punched triangles in semi-circles around the outer edge to form a crude, rounded open …
