Small piece of worked flint, very probably a small piece of debitage dating from the late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, i.e. 2500-1500BC, possibly earlier (exact dating of stray finds of flint debitage is very difficult). The piece is small and can be compared to pieces of flint and chert debitage from Anglezarke Moor in Lancashire which was a well-known seasonal flint-working site throughout the Stone and Bronze Age. This flint is of white colour and it is not opaque or translucent. The white colour either suggests that the waste flake either suffered from extreme heat at some point…

Small fragment of flint debitage, very difficult to date. The fragment is very worn and probably some kind of waste flake that was chipped off the core and discarded. Since flint was in use until the early modern period in this area, it is very difficult to date it without context. However, flint does natually appear on the west coast of Britain and thus, the fragment probably came off a core that was brought here from the east.

Small piece of abraded possible Bronze Age jet or shale debitage. Less than 0.1grm in weight. The stone leaves a medium brown mark when drawn across paper. The dorsal surface has a triangular flake off from the proximal end, and another down one edge that runs to the distal. The other edge seems to have had two flakes struck off it. There appears to have been at least two flakes struck off the distal end, producing a point. A small piece of medium hard black stone (LANCUM 57D5A1), possibly jet or a Scottish pitch was found next to this chert. These may have come from a burial unearthe…
