A probable copper alloy pastry jigger handle dating from the post medieval period, about AD1600-1800. Only the forked attachment part of the handle survive, with the wheel missing. The handle is oval in section and is divided into sections by groups of three collars and intermittent reels. Each plain part is swollen in the middle. A double collar marks the end of the handle and the start of the attachment arms. The opposite end to the one that is missing the wheel is pointy. Similar examples can be seen in Bailey's "Detector Finds", page 96, dated from the seventeenth or eighteenth ce…

Post Medieval copper alloy pastry jigger, cutter, or crimper wheel. It has radiating grooves and ridges and a serrated zig-zig circumference. There is a central perforation (diameter 5mm) for an axle that would have been set into a handle, both now absent. Dates to between c1500 and c1900AD. The method and style of construction suggest a date earlier in this period. The diameter is 24mm, central perforation diameter 5mm, thickness 2.5mm, and the weight 6.14g. Above the upper band (towards the complete end) the object is decorated with a possible fleur-de-lis on each face. Between each band on one face two moulded ovals are visible with a series of pellets within them. The ovals are broad and rounded at on…
