Twisted wire ring or ferrule formed of interwoven strands of very thin silver wire. The wires in each strand are neatly parallel. The sides of the ring are not straight; they are C-shaped in cross-section, with the exterior of the ring convex and the interior concave. Rings of this type have been examined at the British Museum, where the opinion was tentatively given that they may be 19th century cane ferrules. Small ring made from plaited silver wire. Hand-made. Rings of this type have been examined at the British Museum, where the opinion was tentatively given that they may be 19th century cane ferrules. However, possible parallels include Viking dome-shaped mounts formed of interwoven silver wire, and a ring from the 'scourge' in the ninth-century Trewhiddle hoard.
