Copper alloy button probably relating to the 1st Royal Lancashire Militia or Manchester militia although it is also similar to the Furness Curassiers dating 1898 which was raised from the Silverdale area in Lancashire. The 'M' on buttons usually stands for 'militia' and the other abbreviations are the town or country. Associated with an 1800's sword hilt found in a rock pool LANCUM-C7C321. The diameter is 20mm and the weight is 5g.

Treasure Case: 2016 T745
A silver composite button dating to the Post-Medieval period. The object is hemispherical with a domed top which has been soldered onto a convex back-plate where there are two blow-holes. Inserted into the centre of the back plate and secured by solder is a silver strip, bent to form an attachment loop. The strip is D-shaped in cross-section. There is no makers mark.
