Moulded sherd of a Roman flagon handle. Possibly dated to the second century. There are two distinct ridges on the outer face of the handle running vertically following its form. The fabric is red orange and has a few small dark brown grit inclusions.
Flagons are associated with the Roman military market.

Moulded sherd of a Roman flagon handle. This sherd derives from the base of the handle where it joins the vessel body. There is a distinctive vertical ridge running down the centre of the handle following the handle form. The fabric is red-orange. Probably second century in date.

Wheel thrown rim and neck sherd of a Roman flagon. It can be dated to the second century. There are four equally spaced decorative ridges incised around the neck below the rim and a portion of the handle is still in place. The fabric is red-orange with small black grit inclusions. The handle has a central ridge which runs vertically following the form of the handle.

This sherd derives from where the handle base joins the vessel's body. The fabric is a pale orange colour and has occasional black grit inclusions.

Two wheel thrown sherds from the same Roman flagon. The fabric is a medium grey colour with a slightly lighter grey heart. There are very few fine black grit inclusions. There is no decoration. One of these sherds shows the neck-handle join.
Probably dates to the second century when flagons were associated with the military market.
Handle/Neck sherd: Length: 46mm, Width: 35mm, Thickness: 6mm, Weight 17.96g.
Adjoining sherd: Length: 32mm, Width: 30mm, Thickness: 8mm, Weight 8.71g.
