Late post-medieval cu-alloy Nuremberg jetton of the 'turbaned bust' type of Hans Schulte III dating from c. AD1608-1612. The inscription on the obverse is: HANS SCHULTE ZV NVRN and on the reverse: GLICK KVMPT VON G[O]T IST WAR. Initial mark: rose. Mitchener 1416 -1417 (difference is 1.17 for first or 1.55 for second number. The find was not seen by the local FLO; the information was emailed and the image was kindly supplied by finder.

A complete Post Medieval struck/hammered copper alloy Nuremberg Jetton. 1500 AD-1580 AD. It is worn on the edges of both obverse and reverse making it difficult to read inscriptions. Obverse is probably three crowns, alternating with three lis arranged around a central rose. Reverse is probably an imperial Orb surmounted by a cross patte,within a double stranded tressure of three arches and three angles. The diameter is 20mm. Jettons were used in accounting, with a chequered board or cloth.

Reverse is a triple banded straight cross fleuretty. The obverse legend should read AVE MARIA GRACIA. The diameter is 26mm and the weight 7.54.

Mirror image of Austro-Burgundian shield in five parts, surmounted by Burgundian emblems. Reverse: (fictitious legend). Standing woman facing long flowing hair, wearing drape, lowered left hand holds a pot from which she waters flowers, she holds a spray of flowers in raised right hand.

A similar jetton can be seen in Mitchiner, p.443, no.1553. The diameter is 20mm and the weight 1.09g.

A mid to late medieval copper alloy French jetton circa 15th century with significant flan damage. Obverse has the shield of France with three fleurs upon, within a pelleted inner boarder. The outer inscription is illegible. The reverse has a cross of three strands fleuronee with a quatrefoil in the centre, within a four arched tressure . It has a Lombardic [B] or [R] in one of the angles of the tressures. The jetton has been crudely pierced. The diameter is 25mm and the weight 2.95g. A medieval copper-alloy 'Dolphin' jetton, struck in south-eastern France in the late 14th to early 15th century (see Mitchiner 1988: 182 - 184). Obverse: [lis]AVE*mARIA*GRAC[..], Dolphin Reverse: cross formed of keys and lis According to Mitchiner (ibid: 182), 'The dolphin ('dauphin') was [the] traditional badge of the Counts of Alban, Dauphins of Viennois'. The author's suggested date range for such jettons is c. 1373 - c. 1415. This worn example would appear to be a variant on Mitchiner nos. 488 - 492, its reverse cross not being the usual triple-stranded straight cross fleuretty…
