Robertson 2000, 36 no. 179: "25 Nov. 1790 "Read a Letter on the subject of some coins lately found in Lancashire. They were discovered by a Countryman in plowing, and were about the size of a sixpence but considerably thicker and of the purest metal. There were about twenty in number, of the reigns of Hadrianus, Antoninus Pius the Caesars &c. No traces of ruins were discovered near the place where they were found, which till very lately was woodland." Ms. Min. Soc. Ant., XXIII 1789-90), 481 The size of the coins indicates that they must have been denarii."
