An incomplete, heavily clipped, Post-Medieval silver hammered shilling of King Charles I (AD 1625-1649), uncertain mint mark. Obverse: Crowned bust of king facing left. Possible traces of Roman numerals XII behind head. Obverse inscription: CARO[LVS : D : G :] MAG : BRI : FRI : ET : HIB : REX. Reverse: Squared shield bearing the royal coat of arms, quartered by a long cross fourchee. Reverse inscription: C[H]RISTO : AVSP[ICE ...]. Die axis: 12 o'clock. It measures 24.67mm in diameter, 0.92mm in thickness, and weighs 2.81g.
