A complete copper alloy trade weight, one of a set that would have stacked. It is circular with a raised rim, and the weight would suggest that it is 1/2 ounce. Inside are the stamps of a laver or coffee pot, the inspection mark of the Worshipful Company of Founders, who controlled the lawful making of weights in London and for three miles around (Withers and Withers 2011, page 78). Date range c1700 to c1900 AD. Diameter 30mm, thickness 4mm, weight 23.42g. Similar objects are illustrated in Bailey (2004: 83) see nos. 391-8 which are described as women's hem weights or curtain weights, and date to the 18th-20th centuries.
