An large iron horseshoe. It is keyhole shaped, with a toe clip and calkins on both branches. Six rectangular holes are visible on one branch, there is no fullering. It is most likely to be a draught shoe of the late 19th century.  Dimensions: 190mm long and 195mm wide

An iron token or weight which has possibly been converted to a gaming piece. If formerly a weight it would approximate to 1/2 ounce, but account must be taken of metal lost through corrosion. It is badly corroded but on both sides a symbol has been scratched into the surface post manufacture, which consists of two triangles joined in line with each other at the point. A probable iron horseshoe. The toe and one branch survive. Although it may be a result of corrosion the outside edge of the shoe appears to be wavy edged. One side of the shoe is flat, the other slightly curved. The remains of round headed nails are seen in possibly two of the holes, which coincide with the shape of the rim. There are other holes, six in total,  the one at the end of the shoe being elongated, although these are now filled with corrosion products. An iron horseshoe of uncertain age. It is asymmetric, one branch is pointed and one ends in a wide, blunt end. The central shape is a pointed arch.It is too corroded to identify the number of holes present.  It has some of the characteristic shape of a thirteenth century Dove shoe, but it could also date from the eighteenth century, the level of corrosions may suggest an earlier date Dimensions: 130mm long and 120mm wide approximately, it weight 239g

Iron horseshoe. This is heavily corroded but the inner arch shape can be discerned, and there is the suggestion of two rectangular holes in the front of the shoe. The pointed branch is also apparent. It is likely to be a Guildhall transitional type, dated to AD 1500-50 (Sparkes 1976, 13).

A heavy iron horseshoe of probably medieval origin. It has an arched shaped centre with roughly vertical sides, and the arch is not pointed, which indicates a sixteenth century date. The outside is a more rounded shape. It is not possible to tell if calkins are present, but possibly not. Late- or Post-Medieval chape from a dagger or rapier sheath or scabbard, made from iron sheet which was rolled up to form a tube with one open end while the other was cut into triangles so the points could be bent inside to form a closed terminal. The inside (and possibly the outside as well) had a copper-alloy coating which is proven by the green corrosion residue. Near the open end is one rivet hole which bore the rivet that helped keeping the chape on the sheath.

Iron spearhead, possibly dating to the roman period. The tip is missing, the blade of the spear has a central ridge running up both sides, making it look lonzenge shape in section. The socket of the spear which is hollow and circular in section is broken although the main shaft survives. The shaft tapers from the tip to the bottom, near were the shaft flares out to the blade there are three linear grooves.

Probably a Medieval to early Post Medieval iron shoe for a plough share or ard. The artefact consists of a top plate and a bottom plate that are joined by a large iron rivet. The top plate is sub triangular in plan, curved in profile, and has a curved rib running lengthways from the centre of its bas that was to accommodate the plough shaft. An incomplete iron bevelled key hole type horseshoe of post-medieval date, (1550-1880). The object is a typical U-shape in plan with a keyhole profile in the centre and is almost complete. The calkins are rounded and worn. The number and location of the nail holes cannot be determined due to corrosion. This horse shoe is very similar to one on page 41 of Bailey, G. 1997. Detector finds 3. Greenlight (Witham, Essex). The length is 155mm and the width is 128mm.

Iron horse shoe, dating to the medieval period, circa 11th - 12th century. The shoe is heavily eroded with three round (long lopped) shaped holes either side. The shape of the shoe is lobate with wavy edges. At the end of the horseshoe which is u shaped is square. Some of the pins are still visible on one side, they are rectangular in section. This is type 2 (pers.comm J.Clark).

Post-medieval iron cannon ball, dating to c. AD 1600 - 1800. The cannon ball is spherical in shape and has a slightly encrusted red-brown patina. It is 53.76mm in diameter and weighs 579g. See LANCUM-B8743B for an example of similar size and weight, which is recorded as possibly being from a Minion cannon in use from the mid-16th century through to the end of the 17th, possibly dating to the English Civil War.

Complete musket shot mould made from iron, for large lead bullets of c. 18.41x17.55mm, dating to the 17th or early 18th century. It is made from two halves pivoted or hinged together to resemble a pair of scissors. It survives complete, except for one handle terminal which is missing. The surviving handle terminal droops slightly inwards. The mould halves are both hemispherical, internally and externally. There is no decoration. On one side, both halves have a small hole on the seam, to allow the molten lead to be poured in. The central rivet is still in place and the handles can be moved.

An iron hammer of a large flintlock pistol, possibly a Brown Bess lock (Noel Hulme, 1969, fig. 214, fig. 69, no. 5). The jaws would have connected together and to the hammer by a vertical bar running down one side. The screw would have run vertically through the jaws adjacent to the side fixed by the vertical bar and would have tightened to hold the flint in place. The flint is missing but would have projected beyond the open side of the baws - opposite the vertical bar and screw. The mechanism is showing signs of active corrosion. An iron post-medieval cannon ball, probably dating to the 17th century. It is cylindrical. It measures 95mm in diameter. The size suggests that it was intended to be fired from a demi-culverin, a medium cannon in use during the late 16th and 17th century. A post-medieval iron cannon ball, dating to the period AD 1600-1800. It is made of iron, which has been presumably cast, although no seams are visible. The ball is dark brown with lighter flecks across a relatively smooth surface, with only light pitting. The diameter is 57mm. This ball is likely from a Minion cannon in use from the mid-16th century through to the end of the 17th, possibly dating to the English Civil War. Copper alloy and iron fragment, probably dating from the post-medieval or early modern period, 17th-19th century. The iron plate and part of the lock is much corroded, but the copper alloy lock cover is still in good condition. It is undecorated and riveted to the iron plate, probably with another iron rivet at the top. It would have covered the key hole and would have been pushed out of the way to insert the key.
