An incomplete cast copper alloy pipe bowl from a toy whistle, of Post Medieval to Modern dating (1800 to 1900 AD).
The pipe bowl is incomplete, missing parts of the sides. The pipe bowl has a pointed base. The sides of the pipe bowl have been decorated. This decoration comprises a line made of joining arches, running around the bowl at its mid point. Below the line, is a regularly spaced pattern of raised pellets. Post Medieval to Modern copper alloy, possibly brass, probable cannon shaped whistle. It could possibly be a toy cannon with a terminal touch hole rather then the more usual position atop the breech. In addition to its manufactured decoration it has the initials A L or G scratched onto near the breech. Probably dates to between c1750 and c1970 AD. The material and level of finish suggests the latter half of the age range.
The length is 46mm, width 14mm, diameter 10mm, and the weight is 13.94g.

A copper alloy tapered tube whistle of the 19th century. This style of whistle is also known as a Beaufort whistle. The main body of the whistle consists of a tapered copper alloy tube with sound holes on opposite sides towards the narrow end. The cap has some moulded decoration around the top of a raised rim and a (damaged) suspension loop attached directly to the centre of the cap, without a knop. Dating from around 1800 onwards, many of these whistles - particularly those used by police forces - were replaced by the 'Metropolitan' style whistle by around 1880. It has a greenish pat…

Copper alloy whistle probably for hawking Post-medieval 1500 to 1800 AD. The whistle is circular in cross section. The mouth of the whistle is slight tapered and there is an oval half moon shaped opening just beneath the mouth. The base of the whistle is closed by a suspension loop. The body is decorated with a series of engraved lines in the form of creating a zig zag pattern. A number of whistles have been recorded by the PAS, however a direct parallel has not been found. It is likely that the dating of this whistle falls within the period 1500-1800. The whistle is associated with a…

Flat circular cast cu-alloy lead wight of James I (1603-1625) or, less likely, James II (1685-88). It is stamped with a crowned 'I' for James I or II, the sword of St Paul (mark of the city of London) and a ewer. Weighing 12.66g, it was probably a 1/2oz weight.

Large cast cu-alloy weight dating from the early modern period, i.e. c. AD1700-1900. The weight is circular without any decoration. Usually, this type of weight would have had official stamps in the centre of the obverse ring, but there do not seem to be any. This suggests that this weight dates from the late 19th or even early 20th century when these 'nests' of weights (which this weight belongs to) were very common. It weighs almost 100g which could suggest that it is a metric weight.

Cast cu-alloy weight dating from the post-medieval period, i.e. c. late 17th or 18th century. On the obverse it bears a stamped crowned WR, crowned GR and LS which probably stand for William Rex and George Rex. The weight comes from a 'nest' of weights and was probably used as a trade weight (not a coin weight).

Small circular cast cu-alloy weight, probably dating from the early 18th century. The weight was part of a 'nest of weights' and has a small rim around the upper surface in which a small weight would have fitted. The weight itself would have sat in the heavier weight underneath. The upper surface is stamped with a crowned 'WR' which probably means WILLIAM REX which would date the weight to the early 18th century.

A post-medieval copper-alloy trade weight. The weight is circular in plan and flat in cross section. It has an incised circle around the edge creating a border. A crown has been stamped off center and there are traces of lettering possibly a 3 and an 8. There are further symbols stamped into the weight one at 9 o'clock which is probably a ewer the London Founders Company mark and another at 3 o'clock which is probably a sword of St Paul which is the City of London Guild mark. From the reign of Henry VII, c. 1495 they start being stamped with the kings initial. This weight is probably …

Probably a cast copper alloy weight of post-medieval date (1588-1603). The weight is part of a larger group of stacking weights. The front has a turned incised circle around the external edge and a central hollow point; the rear is flat and undecorated. The front face is further marked with a series of stamps: these include a probably crowned EL (very faint), the dagger or sword of the London Guildhall, and the ewer (coffee pot) of the Worshipful Company of Founders. The crowned EL dates this weight to the reign of Elizabeth I (1588-1603). The weight is a mid-green colour with a well …

Somewhat elaborate conical weight with oval base, composed of five brass and five bronze segments plus the top segment which includes a small hook for suspension. The central rivet that held all the segments together was most probably made from iron.
It is uncertain whether or not this was a weight, but it might be possible that, if the rivet was longer originally, segments could be added or taken away according to how light or heavy the weight was needed to be.

Possibly a Roman steelyard weight in shape of Venus' head(?). The weight is made from bronze but the weight suggests that it was filled with lead(?). The head is finely carved with fine, classic features. On her head she is 'balancing' a bag or sack(?).
The interpretation as steelyard weight derives from the object's shape and weight; however, the finder suggested it may have been part of a table's, chair's or chest's foot(?).

Small trade weight of cast copper alloy. Depicts inscription WIV (William 4th) beneath a crown with a possible provincial mark WK beneath. The W may indicate 'Wiltshire' but it is unclear what the K represents. William 4th reigned from 1830-1837 therefore the weight was cast in this period and follows the introduction of the 1826 'Imperial Standards' act (Bailey 2000 page 43).
