Post Medieval copper alloy 'Pineapple Penny' token of Barbados. On the obverse there is an African's head facing left and wearing a crown with Prince of Wales plumes. On the reverse is a drop shaped pineapple. These 'pennies' were not official currency, but said to be an anti-slavery campaign token commissioned by Sir Philip Gibbes (1731 - 1815). Gold posy ring. The ring is of D section. The exterior has a floral decoration with curved arc and patterns resembling foilage, and  frame around the diameter top and bottom.. The interior is inscribed 'prefent my affection' in lower case italic script. There is possibly some black enamel present in the lettering.  Posy rings were used as love tokens, with the inscription remaining secret to all but the wearer. Treasure Case 2022 T85 Description: A complete silver vervel (hawking ring) dating to the post medieval period (c.AD 1500-1700). The vervel comprises the band, rectangular in section, with applied shield. Either side of the shield is the letter ‘H’ inscribed in Roman capitals. Roman to Modern cigar shaped whetstone. The finder's partner is a qualified geologist and says the sharpening stone is made from a "Fine to medium grained, quartz cemented sandstone, probably local millstone grit but its source location in the Bowland stratigraphic sequence is not known. The visible striations are not natural." Falttened areas or facets are typical of stones that have been well used. A dark grey hawking whistle most likely made from tin alloy. Cylindrical in shape with a tapering end and broken extension piece, possibly for an attachment loop. A thin raised ring at the top seperates the body of the whistle from the mouth-piece. Immediately below this upper ring is the semi-circular aperture which allows the sound to escape. A Post-Medieval silver posy ring with a plain outer hoop, the interior gilded. The inner hoop bears the inscription 'LOVE EVER *' in upper-case letters. The finger-ring is D-shaped in section. This upper-case inscription is recorded in Joan Evans' English Posies & Posy Rings, 1931. This is a copper alloy finger-ring often called a decade ring or rosary ring, probably dating from the 16th or 17th century AD. The bezel of the ring is engraved with the letters IHS ( a Greek abbreviation for Jesus), a cross and three arrow shapes which represent the three nails in Jesus's hands and feet.The ring is decorated wth ten other knobs.
